Will ran 200 miles around Bristol Queen Square (500mtr loop) starting on Thursday 5th October. 4 a.m. and finished at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday
The Reason
Six years ago, at the age of 25, my friend Will suffered a life-changing climbing accident as he was climbing the Avon Gorge. The rock he was climbing came away from the cliff and he fell 50 metres to the bottom resulting in having both legs amputated and being paralysed from the waist down. He was hospitalized for 2 years and is now wheelchair dependent. Despite putting on a brave face, his recovery is still an ongoing challenge with many ups and downs that have left him feeling isolated.
Will has always been sociable, funny, and adventurous. He is a passionate climber, mountain biker, and an all-round outdoorsman. Currently, the outside life he used to live is completely inaccessible. Using this run, we’re hoping to raise money to go towards helping him get back to doing the things he loves. The Bowhead Reach is an adaptive off-road e-bike that would give him the opportunity to get back into the mountains with friends and return to nature.
Will had never run 200 miles and it was both a physical and mental challenge from start to finish, but we did it we raided 10k, and doing this, will allow Will to live the life he wants, find his passion again, and get back on the trails.
